About this Role
Westcliff Primary School are seeking a dynamic, adaptable, and highly motivated individual to support children across all ages and all areas of the curriculum to:
1. Supervise and provide support to SEND pupils, both individually and in small groups, ensuring they can access learning activities.
2. Support the class teacher to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.
3. Establish constructive relationships with the pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.
4. Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning activities.
5. Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
6. Provide feedback to the pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher.
7. Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
8. Use effective behaviour management strategies to promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with the school’s policy and procedures.
9. Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to the pupil’s responses.
10. Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
11. Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
12. Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
13. Assist with the supervision of pupils at break and lunch times when required.
14. Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required and take responsibility for the pupils under the supervision of the teacher.
15. Contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school.
16. Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
17. In collaboration with the class teacher, organise and manage teaching space and resources to create and maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment.
The position is for hours per week, Monday to Friday – with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break. Term time only.
