Pre-Sales & Technical Engagement Director

We are looking for a commercially astute Technical Pre-Sales & Engagement Director with deep expertise in Enterprise Data Management. This role sits at the intersection of delivery excellence and opportunity creation. While not a sales position, it requires strong pre-sales capability—shaping solutions, uncovering opportunities, and driving business growth through trusted advisory relationships. The consultancy works across a variety of sectors such as Banking, Insurance, Investment Management, Pharma, Utilities and Telecoms.
About the Role
You will own the end-to-end engagement lifecycle—from solution shaping, proposals, and client workshops to successful delivery and account growth. You will combine technical depth in data management with the ability to engage senior stakeholders, translating complex challenges into actionable solutions.
What You’ll Do
Pre-Sales & Opportunity Development
* Partner with Account Managers to scope and shape opportunities with new and existing clients.
* Lead discovery sessions and solution workshops to define client requirements.
* Develop proposals, effort estimates, and Statements of Work.
* Provide technical credibility in client discussions and support RFP/RFI responses.
* Identify expansion opportunities across data management, analytics, digital, and related areas.
Client Leadership & Advisory
* Build trusted advisor relationships with senior stakeholders.
* Conduct business reviews to demonstrate measurable value.
* Translate complex data challenges into clear, actionable solution roadmaps.
Engagement & Delivery Management
* Oversee delivery aligned with contractual obligations and internal methodologies.
* Manage scope, budget, forecasts, change requests, and engagement risks.
* Ensure alignment between technical leads, delivery teams, and client expectations.
* Track engagement KPIs and define success metrics.
Resource & Financial Oversight
* Collaborate with Resource Management to staff engagements.
* Manage revenue forecasting, invoicing, and margin oversight.
* Support recruitment and assessment of consulting resources.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, IT, or equivalent experience.
* 10+ years in Enterprise Data Management, BI/DW, and data platform implementations.
* 10+ years’ experience across diversified industries.
* Strong technical foundation in data integration, SQL platforms, and enterprise data architecture.
* Demonstrable pre-sales experience, including solution shaping, proposals, and client presentations.
* 3+ years in technical architecture, solution design, or project leadership.
Skills & Personal Attributes
* Proven ability to identify and grow opportunities within accounts.
* Comfortable leading technical workshops and executive presentations.
* Deep knowledge of enterprise data management, MDM, data governance, and data quality solutions.
* Able to operate as a Technical Architect of Data and BI/DW/ETL solutions
* Experience managing cross-functional teams (5–20 consultants).
* Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
* Consultative, relationship-driven, commercially aware, and delivery-focused.
* Structured thinker with excellent executive communication skills.
