We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Kirkham in Lancashire. HMP Kirkham is one of the largest category D prisons in England, supporting around 700 men who are nearing the end of their sentences and participating in education and work placements to support integration back into the community.
Within this role you will be working closely with our multidisciplinary team including an ANP and NMP to deliver high quality healthcare and prescribing services. You will work with patients who have a range of needs including long term conditions, substance misuse and acute physical and mental health.

1 day / 2 sessions per week to be worked between Monday and Friday

This position is part time; you will receive an annual salary between £103,600 and £124,320 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Qualifications required
* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications

As a GP you will respond to medical problems presented by patients, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate in line with guidelines and pathways. This includes prescribing for patients, regularly reviewing medications and monitoring repeat prescriptions.
You will:
Provide medical leadership and expert advice to the wider healthcare team, engaging with the Practice Plus Group wellbeing approach
Deliver effective patient care with high levels of communication; utilise evidence-based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines; undertake appropriate clinical audit to improve outcomes
