Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse £30,000 – £33,000 DOE | Full Time | 4-Day Week Job Highlights Leadership opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse 4-day working week with fair share of weekends Varied medical and surgical caseload with multiple certificate holders in-house Strong focus on clinical standards, mentoring and career development Working Pattern Full-time permanent position 4-day working week Fair share of weekend rota No out-of-hours requirement stated Salary & Benefits Salary £30,000 – £33,000 depending on experience 6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays £600 CPD allowance plus 3 paid CPD days (pro rata) RCVS membership paid plus one additional subscription VDS cover provided Health and wellbeing support package Colleague discount scheme Cycle to work scheme Company sick pay Life assurance Buy & Sell holiday scheme One paid volunteer day annually The Role This position is ideal for an experienced RVN seeking progression into senior nursing leadership while maintaining hands-on clinical responsibilities. You will work closely with veterinary surgeons and the nursing leadership team to ensure exceptional clinical standards, excellent patient care, and a positive working environment. The role combines clinical nursing with leadership responsibilities, supporting team development and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Support Lead, mentor and support members of the nursing team Assist with rota coordination and daily workflow management Promote a collaborative and supportive team culture Act as a key point of contact within the clinical team Clinical Duties Remain actively involved in surgical, inpatient and consult nursing Maintain high standards of patient care and client communication Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and best practice standards Support accreditations and RCVS Practice Standards Scheme compliance Training & Development Support student veterinary nurse training and development Encourage utilisation of full RVN skill sets Contribute to clinical audits and continuous improvement initiatives Operational Responsibilities Assist with stock control and equipment maintenance Support implementation and review of practice policies and procedures About the Practice The clinical team includes experienced veterinary surgeons, RVNs and certificate holders, creating a supportive environment focused on high clinical standards, teamwork and professional growth.
