Civil Engineer Braintree £35k-£40k plus benefits A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Civil Engineer to join a well-established and highly regarded residential developer based in Braintree. This role offers the chance to become involved in a diverse range of housing developments, supporting projects from initial planning and design through to completion and adoption. The successful candidate will play an important role within the engineering team, assisting in the delivery of infrastructure and civil engineering elements across multiple residential schemes. Working closely with consultants, local authorities, utility providers and internal stakeholders, the Civil Engineer will help ensure projects progress efficiently while maintaining compliance with relevant technical and regulatory requirements. This position will provide exposure to all aspects of residential infrastructure delivery, including highways, drainage and utility coordination. A key part of the role will involve supporting the approval process for Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 agreements, preparing and coordinating technical submissions, and monitoring progress through to final adoption. The role will also involve assisting with the management of Health & Safety documentation, ensuring records are maintained accurately and in line with statutory requirements. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for liaising with local authorities, water companies and external consultants to resolve technical issues, track approvals and maintain momentum across active developments. There will also be involvement in coordinating engineering drawings, reviewing technical information, supporting site teams with engineering-related matters and assisting with road space booking applications where required. Candidates should possess strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across a busy project environment. Experience using AutoCAD is essential, along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Those with previous exposure to residential development, civil engineering design, infrastructure delivery or development engineering will be particularly well suited to the role. Applicants with an HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering, or those currently working towards a relevant qualification, are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of highways and drainage adoption processes, including Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 agreements, would be highly advantageous, as would an understanding of Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
