We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Excavation Mate to work on LV projects in the North West. The role involves digging track, joint bays, and faults, ensuring precision and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Assist the excavator team lead with trenching, digging, and backfilling tasks
* Read and interpret drawings, safe dig prints, site layouts, and project specifications
* Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
* Collaborate with other teams and back office to ensure site safety and efficiency
* Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
* Follow a defined schedule of daily jobs
* Adhere to all safety regulations, including PPE and procedures
* Keep records of machine hours, maintenance, and site activity if required
Skills and Experience
* Experience working on excavation teams on utility projects (preferred)
* Knowledge of construction site safety practices
* Physical fitness for outdoor work in variable terrain
* Ability to understand and follow instructions
* Effective communication skills with supervisors and crew
* Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
* EUSR SHEA Power
* First Aid certification
* Training in avoiding danger from underground services (HSG47)
