Our Client in Birmingham is seeking an 18+ Leaving Care Personal Advisor
The main purpose of this role is to provide a statutory social work service for children in care and care leavers aged 18-25 years, ensuring all legislative requirements are met. The work involves case management with eligible, relevant, former relevant, and qualifying care leavers. Responsibilities include coordinating, preparing, and completing pathway plans and supporting young people in preparing for independent living.
Your Primary Responsibilities
* Act as a full member of the staff team and contribute to the development of the Service within the Directorate.
* Manage an individual caseload, work with young people and groups, and participate in duty work responding to needs as they arise.
* Participate in providing appropriate programmes for service users, in collaboration with other staff and agencies, to facilitate their transition to adulthood and independent living.
* Implement and adhere to all relevant Directorate and Service procedures as an aftercare adviser.
Requirements
* Enhanced DBS clearance.
* Substantial experience working with children and young people up to age 21, or 25 if in higher education, in a voluntary or professional setting.
* Experience of interagency work with vulnerable, at-risk, homeless, or care-experienced young people.
* Experience of managing caseloads and achieving outcomes for young people.
* Proficiency in electronic case recording systems and software such as Word.
* Ability to advise on budgeting and financial accountability where appropriate.
* Ability to secure education, training, and employment opportunities for care leavers.
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop relationships with young people, families, carers, and partner agencies.
* Ability to be aspirational, empathetic, and realistic in approach.
* Good verbal presentation skills and ability to manage time effectively.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing situations.
* Commitment to anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practice.
* Teamwork skills and ability to contribute to a collaborative environment.
Pay and Shift Pattern
GBP 18 per hour
Shift: 08:45 AM to 5:15 PM
