We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Flintshire to assist with the appointment of a Senior Auditor, on a 1.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £19.66 - £25.11 per hour
Responsibilities:
* Manage and perform major risk based, key systems, regulatory and advisory reviews as allocated by the Principal Auditor from the Strategic Audit Plan.
* For risk based work, identify the objectives and risks for the areas concerned, the expected controls and a testing strategy to see that they are adequate and effectively operated.
* Perform the testing and undertake analysis of financial and non-financial data, evaluate and interpret the results and incorporate the findings into the automated electronic working papers and audit report. Computer Assisted Audit Techniques may be used if appropriate
* Plan the work involved to complete and coordinate a number of complex audit assignments to meet time budgets, deadlines and client requirements, with the ability to reprioritise work to meet these conflicting needs.
* Identify potentially areas and recommend to the Principal Auditor and Internal Audit Manager, where appropriate, that they are included within the Audit Plan.
Qualifications and Knowledge:
* A Qualified Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Qualified Accounting Technician (AAT) or part qualified Chartered Internal Auditor (CMIIA) or part qualified Accountant (e.g. CIPFA, ACCA) or relevant equivalent qualification.
* Able to demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development according to the requirements of the relevant professional body.
* The postholder must have knowledge and understanding of risk management and how it is applied to support a risk based audit approach.
* The postholder must have a knowledge and understanding of corporate governance.
Skills and Abilities:
* Have the ability to manage each project to ensure delivery on time and within the days specified.
* Be able to manage their own performance against a range of Performance Indicators and service standards, maintaining the quality of the work.
* The ability and confidence to communicate clearly with members and employees at all levels both verbally and in writing.
* The ability to persuade managers of the benefits of implementing change, and deal with negative reactions to audit findings.
* Must possess the ability to apply legislation, regulations and codes of practice across all areas of the Authority.
Essential Requirements:
* The postholder must have the proven knowledge and audit experience to deliver the application of risk based auditing.
* Experience of computerised working paper systems to document and record outcomes and findings of audit review.
* The post holder must hold a current driving license and be able to work in an agile manner.
