Job Opportunity: Mechanical Manufacturing and Assembly Technician - Space Battery Builds
EnerSys, a global leader in stored energy solutions, is seeking a mechanically skilled manufacturing and assembly technician for our Advanced Systems (EAS) Space line of business. This role involves working on international space missions supporting satellites, launchers, and interplanetary vehicles, collaborating with agencies like NASA and the European Space Agency, as well as commercial clients.
Job Purpose
To complete all mechanical elements of space battery builds according to specific instructions and processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Ensure health and safety protocols are followed at all times, including risk assessments, safety measures, and PPE use.
2. Maintain safety standards for products and hardware.
3. Comply with company policies and performance processes.
4. Adhere to cleanroom procedures.
5. Complete all required training, including cross-training in other departments.
6. Set up and operate equipment for assembly tasks.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Complete manufacturing documentation accurately.
2. Perform mechanical assembly tasks such as spot welding, pull testing, applying Kapton tape, glues, and other materials.
3. Deliver tasks on time and with quality.
4. Assist with limited battery testing activities post-training.
5. Follow build documentation and technical drawings.
6. Raise material or purchase requests as needed.
7. Maintain cleanliness of the cleanroom areas.
8. Support training and process documentation updates.
9. Understand and apply manufacturing standards and guidelines.
10. Participate in process reviews, risk assessments, and non-conformance reviews.
11. Communicate effectively about tasks and activities.
Qualifications
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and activities.
* Educational background in engineering is beneficial.
* Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly is advantageous.
Knowledge & Experience
* Strong background in assembly operations, ideally 2-5 years, preferably in aerospace manufacturing or engineering.
* Commitment to hardware safety.
* Basic electrical test equipment knowledge is a plus.
* Attention to detail, logical approach, and proactive mindset.
* Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
* Proficiency in MS Office/Office 365.
