Baltic Recruitment is supporting a global manufacturing client serving the oil, natural gas, industrial, and renewable energy industries in their search for a PCB Test & Repair Engineer.
Overall Purpose
* The PCB Test and Repair Engineer tests, diagnoses, and repairs Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) in a high-tech environment.
* This involves using specialized test equipment, interpreting schematics, and collaborating with design and production teams to ensure high-quality PCB products.
Key Duties
PCB Testing:
* Conduct tests on PCBs using automated test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
* Analyze test results and compare against design specifications to identify faults or performance issues.
* Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and scripts to ensure compliance with standards.
PCB Repair:
* Identify and troubleshoot faults in PCBs, including SMDs, through-hole components, and multi-layer boards.
* Perform repairs such as component replacement, soldering, and rework.
* Use tools like hot-air rework stations, microscopes, soldering irons, and reflow ovens.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain detailed records of tests, repairs, and modifications.
* Generate reports summarizing processes, results, and defects.
* Work with engineering to document failures and suggest improvements.
Accountabilities
* Troubleshoot and test PC boards, SMT, connectors, etc.
* Perform repairs on PC boards, SMT, and connectors.
* Conduct computer-controlled operations.
Internal/External Interaction
* Provide feedback to design engineers on test results and repairs.
* Collaborate with production to ensure smooth workflows.
* Assist in troubleshooting PCB assembly issues.
Key Requirements
* Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
* IPC-A-610 Certification preferred but not essential.
* Experience with PCB assembly, soldering, and component identification.
* Ability to interpret circuit diagrams, schematics, and PCB layouts (Gerber files, BOM).
* Experience with testing, debugging, and reworking PCBs.
The Package
* £25,000 - £35,000 per year depending on experience.
* 37 hours/week, Mon-Thurs 8:30am-4:30pm, Fri 8:30am-4pm (flexible).
* 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays.
* 5% salary sacrifice pension.
