The Opportunity
Are you passionate about empowering young people to overcome barriers to learning? We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join our specialist day school in St Ives.
Our school is a unique environment designed for students aged 11:16 with complex learning needs, including autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), and communication difficulties. Here, we dont just teach; we provide a therapeutic space where students who may have struggled in mainstream settings can finally thrive.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be the backbone of our classroom support. You wont just be helping out:you will be a mentor, a motivator, and a safe harbor for our students.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Tailored Support: Implementing and adjusting learning activities to meet the specific needs of individual students.

Environment Building: Preparing resources and creating a classroom atmosphere that is both stimulating and safe.

Behavioral Mentorship: Using positive behavior management techniques to support students through moments of anxiety or challenge.

Curriculum Delivery: Working closely with Teachers to reinforce core concepts, ensuring every student has the chance to reach their full potential.
