Location: London (Hybrid – working from one of several London‑based sites)Contract Type: Fixed‑Term Contract – 2 monthsStart Date: ASAP
A busy payroll team is seeking an experienced
Temporary Payroll Administrator to provide essential support during a peak operational period. This is a hands‑on role requiring someone who can hit the ground running, manage end‑to‑end payroll tasks independently, and quickly adapt to established processes.Role OverviewThe successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering accurate and timely payroll processing across 4‑weekly and monthly cycles. You will manage payroll inputs, respond to employee queries, maintain accurate records, and support month‑end and year‑end activities. This role is critical to maintaining payroll continuity during a period of reduced capacity.Key Responsibilities
1. Process and reconcile 4‑weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time
2. Manage overtime calculations, approvals, and related queries
3. Collate and validate timesheets and payroll inputs from Bodet or similar time‑and‑attendance systems
4. Prepare regular payroll reports and support ad‑hoc data requests
5. Assist with absence and sickness administration
6. Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to employee queries professionally
7. Maintain accurate payroll records and process data changes promptly
8. Provide cover for team members during periods of leave or high workload
9. Support month‑end and year‑end payroll processes, including reconciliations and reporting
10. Ensure fullpliance with statutory payroll legislation and internal procedures
Required Experience & Skills
11. Minimum 5+ years’ experience in payroll administration
12. Strong background in end‑to‑end payroll processing and reconciliations
13. Experience using Bodet orparable clocking/time & attendance systems
14. Experience in shift‑based, logistics, or operational workforce environments (desirable)
15. Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, SHPP), auto‑enrolment, and tax codes
16. Confident with variable payponents (overtime, allowances, premiums, deductions)
17. High level of accuracy and excellent numerical skills
18. Strong HR/Payroll systems experience with advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables, data validation)
19. Excellentmunication skills and ability to resolve payroll queries clearly and professionally
20. Able to learn new systems and processes quickly with minimal supervision
21. Strong organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
