Adult, Child, Young Person & Family Therapist
Working within the multi-disciplinary patient and family support team as a Child and Young Person counsellor, your role will be integral to providing emotional & bereavement support to patients, families, and clients within the hospice and community to explore their grief.
The Children & Young People Service (CYP) Provision offers a range of therapeutic interventions designed to provide support and engagement at the most beneficial times for C&YP. There is flexibility for C&YP to move between different opportunities based on their clinical needs as they progress in working alongside St Clare.
Main duties of the job
* Lead the CYP provision within St Clare, planning and delivering groups, workshops, talks, and one-to-one sessions, supervising volunteer-led spaces to meet the needs of C&YP.
* Support and develop the Hospice Bereavement Service.
* Maintain and manage a database of bereavement referrals, conduct assessments, and undertake risk assessments for clients accessing the service in the community and hospice.
* Manage a caseload of clients/patients/families with bereavement needs.
* Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising bereavement support staff and volunteers.
* Provide training to teachers and school staff on supporting C&YP.
* Coordinate the service ensuring timely and sensitive communication.
* Monitor and develop the hospice and bereavement service through audits and client feedback.
* Offer support and advice to staff to facilitate psychosocial support.
* Provide supervision to counsellors, student counsellors, and bereavement volunteers.

Job responsibilities
* Work as a full member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, providing bereavement and loss support to C&YP and their carers.
* Participate in Multi-Disciplinary meetings as necessary.
* Maintain and develop the Hospice’s Adult & Childrens Service.
* Assist in delivering projects like the BBC Children In Need Bid and support 18 to 21-year-olds.
* Provide bereavement counselling within the community and hospice, including group work.
* Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for the bereavement service.
* Develop and evaluate therapeutic programmes, collaborating with statutory and voluntary agencies.
* Work with patients using individual, group, or family techniques, involving other team members as appropriate.
* Manage student counsellors and bereavement volunteers.
* Handle bereavement referrals, providing advice and support following service protocols.
* Develop relevant group sessions and workshops for bereaved individuals.
* Contribute to understanding and assessing the psychological, emotional, and social needs of diverse cultural and ethnic groups.
Person Specification
Experience
* At least two years of counselling experience using various psychological techniques.
* Experience working with young people in healthcare or counselling settings.
* Knowledge of working with bereaved individuals, including risk assessments.
* Understanding of evidence-based psychological therapies and their application.
* Knowledge of best practices in psychological therapies, bereavement, and palliative care.
* Awareness of bereavement issues and their impact on wellbeing and daily life.
* Experience working in a palliative multidisciplinary team.
* Experience managing volunteers and providing training.
Qualifications
* Degree in psychological therapy or counselling.
* Registered or accredited with BACP or equivalent body.
* Additional training in bereavement counselling, palliative care, teaching, or supervision is desirable.

Salary: £23,257.70 to £23,837.40 per year, including High Cost Area Allowance.
