Learning Support Assistant (LSA) SEMH experience -secondary school, supporting students aged 11–16.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and emotionally.
The Role
1. Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in the classroom and through targeted interventions
2. Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals to support individual learning plans
3. Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
4. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their wellbeing and progress
5. Support students during lessons, break times and structured activities as required
The Ideal Candidate
6. Experience working with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (school, youth work, care, or similar settings)
7. A calm, patient and resilient approach
8. Strong communication and teamwork skills
9. Ability to set clear boundaries while remaining nurturing and supportive
10. A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting young people’s welfare
