We're seeking a highly organized and people-focused School Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of non-teaching school life. This is a full-time, term-time only position (32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year), with flexible working options such as a 0.8 contract.
About the role
As our School Operations Manager, you will be a key member of the senior team, trusted by the Principal, relied upon by colleagues, and connected with Lift Schools' regional and central teams. You will collaborate with a skilled school admin team to oversee school operations, including HR, finance, estates, IT, compliance, and health and safety. This broad role ensures smooth school functioning, allowing staff to focus on delivering excellent education.
What you'll do:
* Act as the conduit between the school and regional teams, ensuring smooth processes and communication
* Lead HR administration, including recruitment, absence tracking, payroll updates, and safeguarding checks
* Manage school finances: ordering, budgeting, banking, and liaising with finance teams
* Oversee premises and estates, managing site staff and contractors
* Coordinate IT issues, maintenance, and digital planning
* Ensure compliance with health and safety, data protection, and policy updates
* Oversee catering, cleaning, marketing, events, trips, and wraparound care
* Lead the front office team, managing communications, daily cover, training, and staff induction
Reporting to the Principal and sitting with the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to the school's operational effectiveness and long-term goals, supporting the mission that every child receives an excellent education every day.
Who we're looking for:
* Experience in school operations, business management, or administrative leadership
* Knowledge of HR, finance, estates, or IT, with leadership confidence
* At least Level 2 qualifications in English and maths; Level 3 or higher preferred
* Calm, organized, flexible, with planning and adaptability skills
* Desirable: experience in a school or a School Business Professional qualification
