Project Manager

RC Fornax, a veteran-owned engineering consultancy operating within the aerospace and defence sectors, is looking for a Project Manager to be responsible for leading and overseeing engineering projects. The role involves managing delivery across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring governance compliance, financial control, and alignment with internal and end client expectations. The Project Manager will work closely with technical teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while maintaining adherence to relevant frameworks and industry regulations.
Main Responsibilities:
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of engineering consultancy projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and internal governance.
* Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
* Coordinate with engineering managers to size tasks, validate deliverables, and manage resource allocation.
* Monitor project performance using earned value, milestone tracking, and financial forecasting.
* Facilitate Gate reviews (e.g., Gate 1–5), ensuring documentation and decision points are clearly defined and followed.
* Support bid development and project setup, including scope definition and cost estimation.
* Maintain project documentation and reporting for internal and client use.
* Conduct project reviews, progress updates, and recovery planning where deviations occur.
* Ensure compliance with APM, MOD, and internal standards for project management and delivery.
* Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
Key Requirements:
Essential
* 3+ years project management experience
* Experience of managing and leading projects to successful outcomes
* High degree of commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls
* Ability to operate both autonomously and as a part of a larger team
* Excellent IT Skills – Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Project/SharePoint
* Strong communication skills including writing reports and presenting
* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues and the supply chain
* Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work
* Flexibility to travel to client sites as required
* Eligible for SC clearance
Desirable
* Experience in aerospace/defence sectors.
* Membership (or working towards) of the APM
* Holds APM PMQ (or equivalent)
