Specialist Clinical Engineering Technician
SCL/CDD Services are looking to recruit a skilled, hardworking,flexible, enthusiastic, customer focused individual to join our Team. We arecurrently looking for a Specialist Clinical Engineer to join the ClinicalEngineering team in providing effective & efficient medical device repairand maintenance services.
The successful candidate will play a senior, integral, rolewithin the team in ensuring that critical care medical devices are effectivelyand safely maintained across the Trust.
Successful post holder will be able to demonstrate suitableexperience in the specialism with a broad catalogue of manufacturer trainingand ability to apply their knowledge effectively as required for the role. Beable to work in a friendly, efficient manner with good communication andorganisational skills to prioritise work load.
An in depth understanding of critical care equipmentmaintenance and repair and the ability to adapt to changing work demands isessential. A working understanding of ISO quality systems and the MIA processis desirable.

Main duties of the job
Multitasking and prioritising own heavy workloads.
Organise servicing of Anaesthetic and Ventilatory equipmentwithin area of special expertise.
Control and implementation of particular backlog maintenanceprojects/blocks of work to ensure efficient and effective completion ofteninvolving multi disciplined teams.
Authorised to generate orders including external repairs,spare parts and equipment accessories.
Carry out servicing, repair and calibration of Equipment ofa specialist nature e.g
Anaesthetic and Ventilatory Equipment, Life Support Systemsoccasionally in stressful situations with equipment patient connected.
Be able to understand and communicate Technicalinformation with colleagues and other Healthcare professionals.

Job responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities
a) Carry outcalibration, maintenance, service and repair of complex, multi-faceted andspecialist equipment and systems used for life support and ongoing patient careincluding Anaesthesia and Ventilatory Systems, Infant Care Equipment,Monitoring Equipment.
b) Carry outAcceptance testing and commissioning of equipment and systems on behalf of theTrust in conjunction with relevant functional specialists to verify complianceto Department of Health Codes of Practice, British and Euro Standards andStatutory and mandatory legislation i.e. EAWR and Health & SafetyPolicy/Procedures.
c) Provide ahands on lead and give supervision and advice to other technicians andhealthcare professionals to issues relating to the servicing of Anaesthetic andVentilatory equipment.
d) Organiseservicing of Anaesthetic and Ventilatory Equipment across Trust sites.
e) Requisitionspare parts and accessories to effect efficient and cost effective repairs tofaulty equipment and thereby minimise equipment down time.
f) Toaccurately generate a Trust Asset numbers for new Medical & Surgicalequipmentensuring all appropriatepurchase details are completed.
g) Toadminister equipment onto the Planned Preventative Maintenance Scheme to ensurecontinuity of maintenance in line with the equipment status.
h) Beproactive in suggesting improvements to and work within the Quality System toprovide continuity and compliance to EN ISO 9001:2015 for Clinical EngineeringTrust wide. This will be achieved by the use of quality standards, controlled,technical maintenance manuals, maintaining equipment records and use ofcritical test instrumentation with a known calibration status.
i) Controland implementation of particular backlog maintenance projects/blocks of worktoensure efficient and effectivecompletion often involving multi-disciplined teams.
j) Assistin the control of revenue and capital M&SE replacement requirements fromoption appraisal to final spend across the Trust.
k) Assist intraining nurses and other staff in aspects of equipment use.
l) Participatein a County wide out of hours On-Call system.
m) Input intothe maintenance of safe systems of work through audit, measurement and control.
n) Identifymaintenance contracts previously carried out by outside agencies to be managedin house' in order to realise cost efficiencies for the Trust.
o) Support the Central Equipment Loan Library onequipment issues of a technical and decontamination nature.
Person Specification
Special Skills & Knowledge
* Knowledge of Quality Systems including ISO 9001:2015
* Knowledge of Computerised Systems for labour, stock & asset management.
* Good organisational skills
* Knowledge of NHSLA, Better Healthcare Standards
* Analytical Skills

Statutory Registration
* Clinical Technologist registered member
Qualifications
* Degree/HNC in Engineering, preferably Electronics
* Have, or be working towards, RCT registration
* I.T Qualification
Special Requirements
* Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post
* Current UK driving license
Experience
* Time served in Clinical Engineering, specifically with critical care experience.
* Competency certification in Anaesthesia & Ventilatory equipment followed by a number of years experience servicing this equipment.
