Job Purpose

If yes, then United Utilities (UU) have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Civil Engineering team in a pivotal role that will help to ensure the successful realisation of our strategic goals in the North West of England.
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will provide multifaceted engineering support, encompassing the provision of design and technical advice across various sectors of the organisation. You will operate within a specific delivery area, fostering and maintaining robust relationships with colleagues from different disciplines and internal clients to ensure cohesive progress.
A key aspect of this role involves the line management of technical staff, overseeing the technical outputs of the engineering discipline team. Moreover, as a mentor, you will guide and supervise the professional development of emerging engineers within the company, playing a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of engineering talent.

In-person site attendance in Lingley Mere, Warrington is required three days per week to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration, alongside some travel to other sites in the North West. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Engage in collaborative efforts with internal teams, ensuring project delivery aligns with client expectations and technical standards.
* Provide authoritative engineering guidance and manage project lifecycles, from data analysis to documentation and technical review.
* Assume interim leadership roles, demonstrating adaptability and readiness to uphold senior responsibilities.
* Promote the company's technical prowess within the industry by contributing to scholarly articles and supporting educational outreach.
* Uphold stringent health and safety protocols, mentor emerging talent, and drive the enhancement of engineering practices and quality assurance.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Qualified to degree level/HND equivalent or have equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
* Chartered/Incorporated Engineer, or can present a tangible plan to obtain Chartership within the first 12 months of tenure.
* Working knowledge and experience of capital and strategic civil engineering projects in highly technical and commercial environments
* Experience of providing technical advice, influencing and directing the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
* Hold a current UK/EU driving licence.
