Major Responsibilities/Activities
* Prepare pricing estimates, including developing a take‑off of all material and labour required for the project. This take‑off will be combined with outside vendor pricing to produce a complete project cost estimate.
* Work with outside vendors to request and receive project‑specific pricing to meet firm deadlines.
* Coordinate with operations and outside vendors on how the job is to be built in both our shop and in the field.
* Coordinate with the customer to help ensure we are providing a complete package with a thorough understanding of the project schedule and project‑specific requirements.
* Assisting the management team with other duties when required.
Physical Requirements
* Work will be performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally visits to sites. Position requires long durations committed to independent reading and computation. Strong concentration skills necessary.
Required Skills
* An understanding of structural steel & pipe‑work fabrication and erection practices including knowledge of structural shapes and general industry terminology.
* Ability to read and interpret construction documents including design drawings and specification documents.
* Understanding of material grades and standards.
* Understanding of welding processes & standards.
* Understanding of subcontracted services such as NDT, coating & machining, and the associated standards & specifications.
* Microsoft software applications including MS Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Emphasis on the ability to manipulate Excel spreadsheets.
* Experience with PDF review/editing software.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents.
* Strong math and geometry skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting stringent deadlines.
