Addington Hostel has been providing supportive housing for men for about 130 years in Christchurch. This site is unique in its provision of "wrap around" support for men who have had previous involvement with Corrections, Mental health, and Addictions services.
About the Role:
This Support Worker role is practical, keeping a busy hostel functioning both day and night. You will be involved in medication management, food services, cleaning, maintaining site safety, taking calls, and supporting the men across shifts. We are always seeking Casual staff to cover gaps in the roster, mainly in afternoon, night, and weekend shifts when staff are sick or on holidays. We do not use agency staff for this role, so you are always in demand.
Responsibilities:
* Administer medications
* Support with meals and food services
* Cleaning and ensuring site safety
* Supporting the men
* Responding to public inquiries
Ideal Candidate:
* Must have Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or approved equivalent)
* At least 2 years of experience in Housing, Corrections, Addictions, or Mental Health
* Comfortable working in an all-male hostel environment (majority of staff are female)
* Able to work afternoon, night, and weekend shifts
* Hold a full driver’s license

The starting hourly rate for this role is $29.60.
