Job Description:
Do you flourish working in a fast-paced, high-change environment, managing multiple demands while maintaining accuracy, quality, and attention to detail? Are you an effective communicator, able to engage with stakeholders across Finance and other business functions? Laing O'Rourke is looking for an enthusiastic Financial Analyst with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Role overview
This role supports digital transformation within the Finance function, contributing to process improvements, automation, and enhanced reporting. It involves reviewing processes across teams to identify automation opportunities and collaborating to drive efficiency improvements.
Additionally, the role involves maintenance of the Digital Briefcase, a Power BI platform that centralises critical reports across the business for executive reporting. This includes overseeing the monthly roll forward processes, managing change requests, and supporting the Finance Reporting team in delivering accurate, automated executive reports.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Finance professional with Power BI experience to develop skills in automation, reporting, and process improvements within Finance, while gaining exposure to executive engagement across the business.
What will the role look like?
* Maintain the Digital Briefcase, oversee the monthly roll forward process, and ensure reports are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to stakeholders.
* Support the Finance Reporting team by maintaining data models for executive reporting, ensuring financial information is accurate and automated where possible.
* Assist in transformation projects, supporting process improvements, reporting enhancements, and digital finance initiatives, including streamlining workflows and reducing manual efforts.
* Collaborate with teams across the business to gather reporting needs, support users with financial tools, and promote engagement with digital solutions.
* Identify and support process improvement initiatives, assisting in automation and efficiency solutions within Finance.
Key Experience and Skills
* Working towards a recognised finance qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience in a finance-related role.
* Experience in financial reporting, management accounts, or data analysis, with a strong understanding of financial processes.
* Experience in Power BI dashboard development, with a willingness to expand expertise in data visualisation and reporting automation.
* Ability to analyse finance processes, identify inefficiencies, and support improvements.
* Ability to engage with senior leadership across Finance and other functions.
* Exposure to Power Platform tools or other digital solutions is advantageous.
* Familiarity with AI capabilities, such as Microsoft Copilot, to enhance automation and efficiency.
* Experience with data tools like SQL and Python to support advanced data analysis and integration.
* Previous experience in the engineering/construction industry is preferred.
