The Successful Candidate will be responsible for assisting, as well as supervising the Foundation Year 1 Trainees and Foundation Year 2 Trainees in the management of patients in Acute Medicine. Advert The Successful candidate will be placed within the Acute Medicine Floor: working between the Acute Medical Unit, Same Day Emergency Care and Ward 16 (Short Stay) and provide a constant senior presence Monday to Friday: aimed at improving patient care and enhancing training of junior colleagues. Out of hours cover will include 1 in 3 weekends (long days (8-8:30) and alternate 1 in 2 Tuesdays (8-8:30) to support the unit when foundation doctors are in training. There will be roster TOIL on a Wednesday. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The James Paget University Hospital operates a 'Hospital at Night' team, the aim of which is to provide a safe and supported framework to optimise patient care and resident doctor supervision. The Hospital at Night team relies on generic working of team members. This means that a team of doctors and nurses will have appropriate skills as a whole to manage all problems arising overnight. Hospital at Night covers six specialties: Medicine, Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, ENT and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The Medical Registrar takes a central role in the Hospital at Night Programme. The unit is also a very important area for the teaching, training and assessment of Resident Doctors as well as an important area for the teaching and training of Medical Students and other staff.
