This is an exciting opportunity to join Great British Energy as a Senior Media Manager. You will lead on proactive and reactive media handling, develop integrated media strategies across traditional and digital platforms, and provide expert advice to senior stakeholders. The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex, high-profile communications in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead on major proactive policy announcements and high-profile media moments.
* Develop and deliver integrated media strategies across print, broadcast, digital and social channels.
* Provide expert communications advice to senior officials and stakeholders.
* Respond swiftly to breaking news including rebuttal of inaccurate stories.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and media outlets.
* Collaborate with digital teams to maximise reach and engagement through modern channels.
* Monitor and evaluate media coverage and campaign effectiveness, using insights to inform future strategies.
* A track record of developing and leading creative, innovative, and compelling proactive media moments, targeting a range of different audiences, and often landing complex information.
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex information clearly.
* Strong news and political judgement with excellent understanding of the UK media landscape.
* Experience advising senior stakeholders with confidence including verbal and written briefings. Able to gain the trust of, negotiate with and influence senior stakeholders.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and deliver at pace.
* Experience using data and insights to inform strategies and measure impact.
* A proactive team player with sound problem solving abilities, with the ability to work closely with partners to deliver outcomes.
* Experience in journalism, media or press office environment.
* Understanding of digital channels and content formats, including social media strategy.
