Research and Enterprise Office
The Research and Enterprise Office (REO) is responsible for providing dynamic professional leadership and delivers services to the University’s academic community in support of a range of activities in the areas of research planning and governance, pre- and post-award grant management, research impact, knowledge exchange, and business engagement and facilitates the delivery of services to business as well as to the wider economic community.
Duties of the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Director (Research Support) the Head of Post Award will lead a team of Research Finance Grants Managers and will be responsible for managing the delivery of the specialist support service for externally awarded research grants and contracts to ensure compliance with funders’ terms and conditions and University regulations and to maintain robust systems to successfully pass external funder financial audits, ensuring good accounting practice to minimise financial risk. The post holder will build and maintain strong relationships across and outside the University and lead on the development of the policies, infrastructure, and operational systems for research post award performance and activity.
Skills and qualifications required
We are looking for a dynamic individual, qualified to AAT level or equivalent. You will have extensive experience of research grant award administration in a research-led university or similar complex organisation, have experience of developing innovative service delivery solutions, extensive knowledge of research funders’ terms and conditions and contractual requirements and have experience of undergoing financial audits.
You will have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and be able to communicate clearly and concisely with a wide range of people from either a financial or academic background and be able to present complex issues to colleagues at all levels.
You will demonstrate strong leadership and management skills and can lead and motivate a team of professional staff to deliver exceptional results and customer service.
