Toolroom Turner– The Role:
HellermannTyton are looking for a Toolroom Turner to join their team in Plympton. In this role, you will operate turning lathes and other precision machinery within a toolroom environment. You will be responsible for manufacturing, modifying, and maintaining tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in production processes, ensuring every component meets the highest standards of accuracy and quality.
Toolroom Turner- Key Responsibilities:
- Operate manual turning lathes to produce precision components
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Select appropriate cutting tools and adjust machine settings for optimal performance
- Manufacture new tools and modify existing ones to meet production needs
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on tools and machinery
- Inspect finished components using measuring instruments e.g., micrometers, verniers, bore gauges
- Adhere to health and safety regulations within the tool room
Toolroom Turner- You:
- Time-served apprenticeship in machining or toolmaking
- Proficiency in operating manual and XYZ Proturn lathes
- Strong understanding of cutting speeds, feeds
- Ability to work from technical drawings and CAD models
- Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods
