Role Overview
The urology department is expanding rapidly and is seeking an enthusiastic individual with an interest in pursuing a career in urology.
Key Qualifications
* In the process of obtaining or having passed the MRCS examinations.
* Experience with UK NHS exposure.
* Experience performing flexible cystoscopy (trainer unscrubbed or independent).
* Familiarity with theatre work, out‑patient clinics, endoscopy, prostate biopsy clinics and lithotripsy at Watford General, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans City.
Core Responsibilities
* Work with 7 consultants in theatre, out‑patient clinics, endoscopy, prostate biopsy clinics and lithotripsy across the three hospitals.
* Participate in daily elective clinical activity of the Urology Department, including consultant‑supervised theatre lists and outpatient clinics.
* Manage urological emergencies out of hours as part of the training programme.
On‑Call Details
Post holder will partake in a 1‑in‑7 Registrar of the week rota (0800‑1700) alongside the on‑call team comprising a Consultant of the Week, 2 Urology SHOs, 1 FY1 and 1 Physician’s Assistant. The overnight/weekend on‑call involves a 1‑in‑7, 24/7 middle‑grade rota compliant with EWTD and the 2018 Junior Doctor’s Contract.
