Job Title: Lead Midwife - Maternity Risk and Governance
The Maternity Risk and Governance Team is seeking a Lead Midwife to support the team and cover maternity leave for approximately one year.
Purpose of the Role
The main purpose of the Governance and Risk Lead is to ensure high standards are maintained to deliver safe, quality patient care. Responsibilities include providing assurance, support, and assistance to senior management, divisional directors, and the trust board as needed. Develop and manage maternity clinical governance processes, deliver assurance, and support learning around incident reporting, investigation, and risk management. Facilitate good governance and reduce risks within the maternity department, meeting national safety standards and reporting requirements. Lead by example, promoting best practices, staff development, and safe patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist risk and governance management, guidance, and advice.
* Lead investigations, ensure outcomes are implemented, and share lessons learned.
* Manage complex and sensitive cases effectively and responsively.
* Support and deputise for the Maternity Risk and Governance Manager, including monitoring the maternity risk register.
* Understand incident escalation processes and manage them in the absence of the manager.
* Identify learning opportunities and disseminate best practices.
