Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located in Wigan for a Manual Turner at Horizontal Boring Services Ltd. The Manual Turner will perform precision turning tasks using manual lathes to create or repair components, particularly for the valve industry. Daily duties include reading and interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate tools, setting up equipment, operating manual machinery, maintaining tight tolerances, and inspecting completed parts to meet quality standards. The role also involves adhering to safety standards and collaborating with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
Qualifications
Proficiency in using manual lathes for precision turning and expertise in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
Strong understanding of machining techniques, materials, and tolerances.
Practical experience with quality inspection tools such as micrometers, verniers, and other measurement instruments.
Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues in machining processes and ensure components are manufactured to high standards.
Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
Previous experience in the valve or precision engineering industry is an advantage.
Formal qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or a relevant trade preferred.
