Learning & Development Officer (Maternity Cover - FTC until January 2027)
This is a maternity cover role for a Learning & Development Officer, with a fixed-term contract until January 2027. The role is based in the UK and offers hybrid working arrangements.
Role Details
* Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term Contract until January 2027 (Maternity Cover)
* Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
* Salary: £30,000 - £36,500 per annum
* Working Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in the Bury office, 2 days from home (ad hoc additional days required to support our people’s needs)
Note: A higher level of office attendance may be required during the initial months due to our extensive induction programme.
What you’ll be doing
* Design, develop, and facilitate engaging training content and initiatives that support both behavioural and technical growth
* Lead and deliver leadership development programmes, empowering managers to shine
* Champion our learning culture by building competency matrices, designing journey to competencies, supporting succession planning, and making learning part of everyday life
* Partner with the L&D Manager to shape and deliver the annual training calendar, ensuring it is packed with opportunities for everyone and supports our strategy
* Monitor and review Personal Development Plans, helping colleagues achieve their ambitions
* Source and commission external training to keep the business at the cutting edge
* Collaborate with the L&D Administrator to create dynamic eLearning content (Articulate experience is a plus)
* Support monthly reporting and evaluation to demonstrate the impact of L&D
* Facilitate induction and onboarding sessions to welcome and inspire new starters
* Provide ad-hoc coaching to colleagues up to manager level
* Champion our learning platforms (LMS, Viva Engage, SharePoint) ensuring they are user-friendly and engaging
* Support apprenticeship, graduate, and professional qualification programmes, ensuring learners feel supported
What you’ll bring
* Proven experience in Learning & Development with confident facilitation and project leadership skills (essential). CIPD accreditation is a bonus
* A passion for people development with a growth mindset and the ability to inspire others
* A proactive ideas generator with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement across learning and business processes
* Strong project management skills to plan, coordinate, and deliver multiple L&D initiatives
* Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to influence at all levels
* Tech-savvy, proficient in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Viva Engage, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; experience with LMS and eLearning tools (e.g., Articulate) is highly desirable
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* A collaborative, can-do attitude and a commitment to inclusivity
Qualifications
* Essential: 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C in English & Mathematics)
* Desirable: A Levels or BTEC
* Desirable: CIPD Level 3, ILM Coaching Level 3 or equivalent
