Overview
Piping Calculation Engineer – Bristol, UK – Lead engineering excellence at one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects. Shaping the future of nuclear energy and helping Britain achieve net zero. At EDF, the role focuses on designing, calculating and supporting the vast piping network of the Nuclear Island at Hinkley Point C, integrating with construction and commissioning teams.
Responsibilities
* Perform detailed piping calculations and assess support under load scenarios such as dead weight, thermal expansion and seismic activity.
* Oversee design changes, rework activities and mitigate open points to maintain project progress.
* Collaborate with design and delivery teams to ensure technical quality across disciplines.
* Resolve engineering issues pragmatically to keep the project moving forward.
* Ensure design outputs and modifications are delivered on time and in line with process requirements.
Qualifications
* Strong mechanical engineering knowledge, including modal/static analysis, finite element simulations and CAD design/modelling.
* Experience in technical coordination, piping support calculations (RSTAB/BEAM STRESS) and tools such as CALTUY and Pipestress.
* Knowledge of RCC‑M code (section C 3650) and industry standards relevant to nuclear projects.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex engineering concepts clearly in writing and speech.
* Active SC or DV clearance is required.
