Job Description:
Job Purpose:
Develop the Corporate unit within Mashreqbank PSC, London Branch (“MBUK”), whilst managing credit structuring: including bilateral, syndicated & structured facilities, and non-lending transactions, as well as portfolio management for Corporate relationships, to achieve profitability targets within MBUK’s risk & operational parameters.
Key Result Areas:
* Serve as the key relationship point for Corporate clients in the UK (and Switzerland), driving client coverage growth by developing new relationships and deepening existing ones, aligned with the Branch’s strategic goals.
* Provide strategic insights on developing the UK corporate banking franchise and deliver results based on strategic plans.
* Support International Banking teams with origination activities and transaction closures for MBUK’s corporate clients.
* Lead the Corporate unit by setting objectives, managing performance, motivating staff, and ensuring a strong organizational and risk management framework.
* Assist in consolidating the unit’s budget and ensure compliance with Bank policies and guidelines.
* Recommend and implement improvements to policies, procedures, and controls to meet regulatory requirements while delivering quality service.
* Manage industries/sectors relevant to existing and potential clients, acting as a subject matter expert and engaging in business development to increase customer base, portfolio size, and revenues.
* Stay informed on market and economic trends, including ESG factors, to develop appropriate risk mitigation and credit strategies.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders, ensuring high standards of conduct and ethics.
* Negotiate lending and non-lending transactions, ensuring compliance with policies and laws.
* Review client facilities, credit reports, and legal documents to assess backgrounds and risks.
* Supervise the preparation of MIS reports to meet departmental standards.
* Oversee credit portfolio management and compliance with AML, financial crime, operational risk, and ESG standards within the UK corporate unit.
* Ensure satisfactory outcomes from internal reviews and audits.
* Participate as a permanent member of the London branch Management Committee (MANCO).
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Expertise in credit, financial, market analysis, and loan syndication.
* Deep understanding of UK economic conditions and corporate growth drivers.
* Established relationships with large UK corporates.
* Knowledge of investor risk theory and product/service innovation.
* Proficiency in credit proposal processes and UK regulatory environment.
* Expertise in corporate banking products/services.
* Excellent client relationship, negotiation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Knowledge of competitor offerings.
* MBA or equivalent with 12-15 years of banking experience, including at least 5 years in senior roles.
