Offer description

Are you ready to help shape the future of our engineering ecosystem by leading the transformation of our developer experience? Apply today to join our team

Curious about how you can make a lasting impact on developer experience and innovation? Explore our vision for the internal developer portal and learn more about what's ahead.

About the Team:

As the Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the future of our internal developer portal. This is an exciting moment to join our team. Our environment is collaborative, transparent, and driven by ambition. We are actively expanding our product group and investing in our platforms, making the work both diverse and engaging. Success in this role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting and can adjust to evolving demands. If you have a passion for identity, access, and API management, enjoy tackling complex systems challenges, and want to work alongside talented and friendly colleagues, we encourage you to apply.

About the Role:

We're looking for a Product Manager to own and drive the evolution of our internal developer portal, with Backstage as its backbone. This is a unique opportunity to shape the developer experience across all tools, services, and platforms we manage, ensuring that our engineering community can discover, consume, and manage resources effectively while also encouraging reuse and minimizing wasted effort.

Responsibilities:

* Product Strategy & Vision: Define and articulate a compelling product strategy for the internal developer portal, aligning it with our broader Developer Experience and Enablement goals, with a strong focus on promoting reuse and minimizing duplication.
* Roadmap Planning & Prioritization based on User research and analytics: Define, maintain, and communicate the product roadmap, ensuring prioritization reflects strategic objectives, developer needs, defined success metrics and stakeholder alignment. Collaborate with the user research and product analytics teams to coordinate activities that capture actionable insights that reflect in the backlog and prioritization.
* Go-To-Market (GTM) Planning & Product Lifecycle Ownership: Drive the creation of GTM and adoption plans and oversee the full product lifecycle—from ideation through launch and continuous improvement.
* Developer-Centric Focus: Collaborate closely with developers to understand their pain points, workflows, and reuse challenges—ensuring the portal helps them find and leverage existing solutions rather than reinventing them.
* Reuse Enablement: Develop and champion features that make reusable assets (e.g. components, APIs, templates, best practices) discoverable, accessible, and easy to integrate. Create a culture of sharing and collaboration by encouraging teams to contribute their reusable assets and best practices to the portal.
* Technical Integration: Partner with engineering teams to integrate the portal with CI/CD pipelines, cloud resources, observability, and other key developer tools to make reuse seamless within the development lifecycle.
* Product Backlog Management: Translate the product vision into actionable stories and epics, maintaining a well-prioritized backlog that balances developer needs, technical feasibility, and business goals.
* Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the voice of the developer while balancing business objectives, collaborating with other product managers, engineering teams, and leadership to ensure alignment.

Requirements:

* Proven experience as a Product Manager or Technical Product Owner for developer-facing products, developer portals, or technical platforms.
* A technical background (e.g., software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering) or equivalent experience that enables you to engage credibly with technical teams and understand their workflows.
* Deep understanding of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, microservices, cloud platforms, and developer tooling.
* Experience driving collaboration initiatives—championing best practices, encouraging contributions, and breaking down silos.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* A passion for improving developer experience, productivity, and satisfaction.
