Radiology Clerical Officer

The closing date is 15 May 2026

We are recruiting for a Part time, 24‑hour position working Monday, Wednesday and Friday (hours to be discussed).

Office hours are from 8am until 7pm. The role requires working until 7pm once a week on a rolling rota.

A rotational Saturday shift is also required (approximately 1 in 6).

Are you interested in working as part of a team to provide full clerical service to the X‑ray department? This will involve receptioning patients, booking them onto the departmental computer system, filing, making appointments and acting as a clerical coordinator in our CT control room.

In the X‑Ray Department, the way you go about your duties matters to us. You should be enthusiastic, self‑motivated and possess excellent communication skills to work well with all levels of staff and members of the public. Full training will be given.

Flexibility in hours worked will be necessary to cover annual leave/sickness.


Main duties of the job

* The service is provided over an extended working day and with some weekend working.
* To book radiology patients into the departmental CRIS system, verifying patients personal details and directing the patient to the correct waiting area.
* Co‑ordinating transport patients, liaising with patient and carers to set a time to attend, rearranging transport home.
* Dealing with enquiries over the telephone and in person.
* Makes appointments as required following protocols for plain film and DEXA images, working to radiology waiting times.
* Deals with enquiries from patients regarding appointments, refers to admin co‑ordinator/manager if unable to resolve.
* To act as co‑ordinator in the CT department, scheduling ward and inpatient scanning times, requesting exams to be authorised, answering the phone.
* Able to organise own workload.


Qualifications & Training

* Educated to GCSE, Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths.


Knowledge and Experience

* Ability to communicate at all levels requiring tact and diplomacy to achieve desired results.
* Knowledge of office procedures including filing.
* Ability to see a task through from beginning to end with attention to detail.
* Experience of working within a busy office.
* Previous experience of working within the NHS.
* Experience of using CRIS, ICE, Millennium.

* Ability to work independently on own initiative and as part of a team.
* Ability to work under pressure to tight deadline.
* Ability to prioritise own workload and work on own initiative.
* Helpful and patient focused.

* Open to change.
