About the role

As Junior Graphic Designer, you will help shape high‑quality design work across print, digital, spatial and narrative applications and contribute to the rollout of the Museum's new brand identity. This is a hands‑on and creatively varied role within the Museum's Design & Interpretation Studio, supporting design projects from early concept through to final delivery. Working closely with graphic, 3D and interpretation designers, you will help create contemporary and purposeful outputs that reflect the richness of the Museum's displays and collection and enhance visitor experience.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings strong creative skills, a love for their craft and a compelling portfolio demonstrating clear design thinking from concept to completion. You will be confident using Adobe Creative Cloud, comfortable presenting ideas, and eager to learn and grow within a busy studio environment. We are looking for someone who can balance creativity with precision, managing multiple project deadlines and maintaining meticulous attention to detail. You will be collaborative, open, respectful and proactive, with the energy and ambition to contribute positively to the studio culture and the Museum's evolving visual identity.

Key areas of responsibility

* Support the creation and development of graphic design concepts, researching ideas, experimenting, and translating briefs into strong visual approaches.
* Produce, iterate and prototype design assets, ensuring consistency, accessibility, sustainability and adherence to the Museum's visual language.
* Prepare and present design work, building clear, coherent presentations that communicate concepts, processes and rationale to the wider team.
* Manage project workflows collaboratively, agreeing schedules, delivering work on time and budget.
* Collaborate across design, interpretation, marketing and curatorial teams, contributing to high‑quality production, reporting progress, and continually developing your professional skills.

Benefits

* Free exhibition entry for you and guests, exclusive private views, ICOM and reciprocal museum access.
* 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays and 2.5 privilege days (and +5 days after 10 years).
* Discounts at onsite catering, Museum shops and local Bloomsbury partners.
* Social and wellbeing perks including Staff parties, social clubs, CSSC sports and leisure, and support from the Civil Service Retirement Fellowship.
* Peer support and allyship with five diversity networks for community.
* Learning and development through courses, mentoring and Athena as well as support for professional qualifications.
* Employee Assistance Programme available 24/7 for counselling, wellbeing support and more.
* Eyecare vouchers for VDU tests and contributions toward glasses.
* Enhanced parental leave including maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave.
* Support for carers through Employers for Carers.
* Civil Service Pension Scheme with a secure, inflation‑linked defined benefit.
* Interest‑free loans including season ticket, rental deposit and bicycle loans.

Our Values

* Care Deeply
* Embrace the Unknown
* Spark Curiosity
* Value Many Voices
