Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting an Early Years Practitioner to join a family centre team in Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on childrens early development while working in a supportive and engaging environment.
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and delivering engaging activities that encourage learning through play, curiosity, and exploration. You will monitor childrens progress, ensure their wellbeing, and work in close partnership with families and professionals to support every childs individual needs.
Main Duties of the Early Years Practitioner
* Supervise children during activities, mealtimes, and free play, encouraging independence and social development.
* Contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of early years curriculum frameworks.
* Observe, assess, and record childrens progress, setting clear individual learning targets.
* Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that reflects childrens interests and cultural backgrounds.
* Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and organisational procedures.
* Engage with parents, carers, and partner agencies to promote participation in centre activities.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and equal opportunities at all times.
* Support with preparation and organisation of resources for daily sessions.
Candidate Profile
* Essential Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent).
* Experience: Proven background working with children aged 05 years in childcare or early years education settings.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of child development, early years frameworks, safeguarding, and best practice in education.
* Skills: Confident communicator, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to engage positively with children, families, and professionals.
Desirable:
* Multi-agency working experience.
* Knowledge of current assessment practices and early years legislation.
* First Aid, Food Safety, and Fire Safety awareness.
