Job Summary
Imagine a large tree has fallen on a child, a friend collapses, a train crash with multiple casualties, or someone is attempting suicide on a bridge. In these life‑threatening situations, you’re the first voice to guide callers to calmness and dispatch the right help. As Emergency Call Taker Bicester, you’ll work in the Emergency Operations Centre in Bicester, Oxfordshire – remote work is not supported.
Main Duties of the Job
* Act as the last voice callers hear and the first voice they trust.
* Listen attentively, assess the situation, and manage the caller’s emotions.
* Determine the appropriate emergency response and coordinate with ambulance and other services.
* Record accurate, detailed information into computer systems.
* Maintain professional standards, ensure safety of caller and own wellbeing, and support team members.
* Apply communication and computerised system skills with compassion and efficiency.

Person Specification

* Good standard of education (2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English) or equivalent experience.
* Experience in a customer‑focused environment.
* Experience using a computerised system.
* Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
* Ability to use communication and computerised systems.
* Experience working in a call centre (desirable).
* Experience with rotating shifts (desirable).
