Role Purpose
To carry out carpentry repairs, maintenance, renewals, and replacements ranging from routine reactive repairs to major refurbishment work in occupied and void housing properties and other Council-owned premises in accordance with best trade practice, current standards, and regulations.
Responsibilities
1. Undertake all aspects of carpentry repairs, maintenance, renewals, and replacements, from routine reactive repairs to major renewals and refurbishment work in occupied and void properties.
2. Diagnose the causes of building faults and defects to identify the most appropriate solution, considering the need to reduce repeated faults and visits, ensuring cost-effective solutions are applied.
3. Complete all repairs 'Right First Time' and to a high standard of quality and workmanship.
4. Work effectively as part of a team, with Apprentices, and independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership and using initiative to resolve defects and problems, seeking guidance when necessary.
5. Maintain contact and collaborate with Repairs Team Supervisors and Planners to provide updates on work progress, ensuring service objectives are met.
Requirements
* Completed Carpentry apprenticeship / City & Guilds SCQF-6 / NVQ qualification or demonstrable experience.
* Must have social housing / council experience to be considered.
* Certificates of attendance in Health & Safety training relevant to the role.
* Valid UK driving licence.
* Own tools and drills are required.
Contract
* Initial 3 to 6 months ongoing contract with potential extension.
* PAYE via Umbrella (CIS if UTR number is provided).
* Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm (overtime available).
