Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing Refurbishment Department. Reporting to the Quality and Refurbishment Director, the Refurbishment & Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for planning, managing, and executing outfitting projects for a full class of MSC vessels. This role involves maintaining communication with vessels, supporting maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to ensure high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
1. Evaluate and define the scope of outfitting work, from minor adjustments to major renovations, ensuring vessels remain in excellent condition.
2. Conduct inspections at shipyards and onboard vessels to assess interior conditions and compliance with safety and quality standards.
3. Lead and oversee outfitting projects, ensuring adherence to objectives, timelines, budgets, and scope.
4. Implement supervision systems to track milestones, quality, and costs, ensuring timely project completion.
5. Review mock-ups and initial inspections, providing feedback on design and quality.
6. Coordinate modifications with operations, designers, and architects to meet contractual requirements.
7. Generate reports on project progress, risks, and performance metrics for stakeholders.
8. Address risks and resolve issues promptly to keep projects on track.
9. Maintain relationships with stakeholders including shipyard management and contractors.
10. Ensure repairs within contractual guarantees are completed timely and effectively.
11. Improve processes to enhance quality and reduce delays and costs.
12. Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, safety, and environmental laws.
13. Manage vendor relationships and contractor performance.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Naval Architecture, or related field preferred; substantial industry experience may be considered.
* Experience in cruise ship maintenance, refurbishment, or related roles.
* Knowledge of SOLAS, IMO regulations, maritime standards.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and plans.
* Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Rhino; project management tools a plus.
* Strong communication skills across organizational levels.
* Fluency in English; French or Italian is advantageous.
* Exceptional organizational skills.
