The Role

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a District Nurse (Specialist Practitioner) and play a pivotal leadership role within our integrated community teams. You will deliver safe, effective, person‑centred care while supporting patients to remain independent in their own homes. Working collaboratively across health and social care, you will influence and shape high‑quality care pathways for individuals with complex and long‑term needs. A live NMC UK pin is required for consideration. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements; NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship where these are met.


Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

* Based at East Dunbartonshire HSCP
* Working 5 days over 7, including day shift and back shift
* Full Time, Permanent


Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage a district nursing team, ensuring safe, effective and person‑centred care delivery across a defined caseload.
* Act as the clinical expert, undertaking advanced assessments, care planning and prescribing within the scope of practice.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary working with health and social care partners to deliver integrated care and support patient independence.
* Manage complex patient needs, including long‑term conditions, palliative and end‑of‑life care, and urgent interventions.
* Provide leadership, supervision, and professional development support to nursing staff and students.
* Monitor clinical quality, lead audits and promote evidence‑based practice to continuously improve care outcomes.
* Respond to changing service demands, prioritising workload and implementing contingency plans to maintain safe care delivery.


Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience

* Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
* SPQ in Advancing Practice in District Nursing at Masters Level.
* V300 Independent Prescribing qualification with advanced clinical assessment skills.
* Demonstrable leadership and management experience within a community or primary care setting.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to continuous learning.
* Strong communication, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work autonomously.
* Competence in IT systems and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
