We are currently looking for a Design Manager in Birmingham. To lead and manage the development and delivery of all design aspects of a project. Manage design consultants and processes on one or more projects over £10m or on two projects under £10m.

2. Oversee the setup and collation of all O&M documents and H&S Files.

13. Sourcing potential opportunities and managing associated risks.
14. Protect RED's interests by assessing and controlling risks.
15. Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability
16. Oversee the setup of sustainability processes including BREEAM and other accreditations.
17. Ensure CR and sustainability targets are understood by the project team.
18. Coordinate communication with the client regarding reporting and key decisions.
19. Manage consultant appointments, scope of services, and design programs.
20. Focus on exceeding customer expectations through effective communication.
21. Pre-construction
22. Manage design during tender processes and contract phases.
23. Conduct design audits, assess risks, identify missing elements and opportunities.
24. Manage design teams and subcontractors during PCSA.
25. Finalize all consultant appointments and provide pre-construction advice as needed.
26. Requirements
27. Lead and manage all design aspects of projects, including setting up systems and tools.
28. Manage design meetings, issue resolution, and document control systems.
29. Develop and manage schedules, responsibilities, and procurement processes.
30. Review design information for compliance, buildability, cost control, and change management.
31. Manage design change controls and ensure high standards of finish.
32. Coordinate with the client and statutory authorities for approvals.
33. Mentor site staff in design management.
34. Ensure timely and accurate reporting on design progress.
35. Understand and communicate the Employer's Requirements.
36. Manage documentation for Practical Completion.
37. Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
38. Background in design, construction, and delivery processes, including design management.
39. Knowledge of design principles and project delivery experience.
40. Commercial and financial acumen to contribute to value enhancement.
41. Understanding of construction methodology, process, and sequence.
42. Ability to interpret and communicate design documents.
43. Experience coordinating design issues among various project elements.
44. Degree-level education in Engineering, Building, Design Management, or related fields.
45. Professional memberships such as CIOB, RICS, CIBSE, or similar.
46. SMSTS or equivalent safety certification.
47. CSCS card.
