We’re seeking a dedicated and compassionate Temporary Assistant Head of Year 7 to join a welcoming secondary school in Southampton from January 2026 until February half term (in the first instance). This pastoral role focuses on the wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development of Year 7 students — ensuring they feel supported, confident, and ready to thrive in their new environment. Key responsibilities include: Providing day-to-day pastoral support and guidance to Year 7 students. Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Supporting attendance, punctuality, and behaviour monitoring. Assisting with transition and integration activities for Year 7. Promoting a positive, inclusive, and nurturing school culture. The ideal candidate will have: Previous experience in a pastoral, mentoring, or student support role within a school or similar setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting young people. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
