Senior Mining Engineer - Underground Glencore Copper Maidenhead, England Glencore Copper is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer - Underground to support the growth and development of our global Copper Portfolio to be based at our Maidenhead office in England. This role will support Africa and North America. Our Team The Resource Engineering team is a recently established central function supporting existing and future operations and projects. The team is fundamental in delivering best practice operational performance and long-term strategy at our assets, as well as enabling Glencore's ambitious growth plans. The Opportunity: The role is accountable for providing mine engineering support and services for Glencore's Copper operating sites and development projects, highlighting opportunities for improvement via the known processes as well as through new innovations, Resource Development opportunities and various other strategies. In this role you will: Be accountable for providing technical mining expertise and services for Glencore's Copper operating sites and development projects, highlighting opportunities for improvement via the known processes as well as through new innovations, R&D opportunities, and various other strategies. Provide mine engineering support in Resource Development Planning (RDP) studies. Support the preparation of Reserve Estimates and Reports, and where required act at Competent Person for Reserves Reporting under the JORC code. Provide technical support to reviews of Life of Asset plans and Budget. Support scenario analysis and evaluation of technology projects. This role functions as the mining support/advisor for the mining operations with improvement in processes, systems and with new innovations and improvements to the performance of processes in the mines. This role adds value by providing knowledge and a disciplined approach in the functional area of mining methods/design to recommend improvements that positively impact the safety, health, and business performance. This result is achieved by working with the operating sites, projects teams, and senior management team. Review (and elaborate upon request) Mine Plans in LOA/Y5/M24/D90 horizons with its all-related aspects, unfolding the strategic objectives to regional groups and seeking to achieve robust and feasible plans in all mining complexes. Obtain better scenarios to meet the production plan in line with the mine's development goals and parameters, connecting the different horizons and interface areas. Monitor the execution of projects, interferences and milestones defined in the Mine Planning across all key horizons (short and long-term). Operating Context Identification of enabling projects to support business plans. Mining Method selection. Mine Design. Mine Sequencing. Scheduling. Ventilation. Backfill. Creation of mining inventories. Integration of capital and operating projects. Budgeting and cost estimation. Establish and maintain relationships with regional and site-based teams. Conduct gap analysis on UG mining planning systems and capabilities. Support effective and timely decision making. On request define and coordinate work in support of operational business plans. The scope may include benchmarking and best practice studies requiring travel to other mining operations. Participation in studies. Review LoA and monitor progress. Participation in Resource Development Planning (RDP). Work to agreed business deliverables which may change from time to time. Travel (up to 30%) to South Africa and DRC to be expected for alignment with regional and site-based teams as required. Autonomous and self-directed work is expected. Your training, skills & expertise checklist: Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering or similar discipline. 7 years mining experience across mining operations, corporate engineering/consulting and major project studies. Demonstrated experience at successfully delivering advanced mining studies (PFS and Feasibility Studies) to a high standard. Proficiency in computer applications and mining software. Experience with Deswik and Whittle are highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in long term planning and schedule optimisation in underground mines. Experience and knowledge of a range of underground mining methods. High degree of business acumen. Strong written and oral communication skills. Bilingual in English/French would be beneficial. Demonstrated capacity to influence.
