Why this job matters

This role is critical to ensuring the continuous operation of the network and communications infrastructure that supports Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police forces. By leading the delivery of Network, Airwave and Field Mobile services, you’ll help maintain secure and reliable systems that enable frontline officers to communicate and respond effectively. Your work directly underpins public safety, ensuring vital “blue light” services remain available whenever they are needed most.



Please note you must either hold or be eligible for SC (Security Clearance) & NPPV 3 Clearance for this role, which will require a minimum of 5 years working history in the UK to be eligible.


What you’ll be doing

* Lead the operational delivery of the Network, Field Mobile, and Airwave Towers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, SLA/KPIs, and ISO20k standards.

* Manage, coach, and develop a technical team, allocating resources effectively to balance operational incidents, changes, and project delivery while fostering a collaborative and continuous improvement-focused environment.

* Act as a technical escalation point for major incidents (P1s) and oversee the identification, tracking, and mitigation of risks, threats, vulnerabilities, and end-of-life devices across the client estate.

* Maintain strong stakeholder relationships with client tower leads, acting as a single point of contact for escalations, queries, and reporting, and facilitating effective two-way communication.

* Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and team capability tracking, and support recruitment, skills development, and succession planning to maintain a fully resourced and high-performing team.

What we'd like to see on your CV

* Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

* Experience applying ITIL principles to manage Incidents, Changes, Problems, and Service Requests, ideally working towards or holding ITIL4 Foundation certification.

* Ability to plan, schedule, and allocate work within a technical team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently while maintaining service quality.

* Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize critical tasks and overcome operational challenges.

* Experience leading technical teams, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment, and supporting the development and performance of team members.

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
