The Role & Key Responsibilities
As a Records and Evidence Centre Officer, the role includes carrying out the day to day duties of maintaining and developing the Surrey Police Records and Evidence Centre. The role also includes looking at how paper documentation is filed throughout the Force and facilitating access to the information stored at the Records and Evidence Centre.
As part of the Information Management Team you will be working closely with several other departments including the Management of Police Information (MoPI) Team. As well as key engagement with all areas of the Force.
For the role, you will be responsible for:
1. Ensuring the integrity, longevity and preservation of all documentation stored at the Centre.
2. Allocating storage space and ensuring physical care of the documents.
3. Providing and maintain an efficient and effective storage and retrieval process.
4. Ensuring the security of the site and those who visit
5. Assisting with the safe and secure destruction of documents based on the retention time frames for documents
6. Communicating with all departments across the Force to identify the most practical and safe storage processes in line with Data Protection legislation.
7. Working as part of a small team, supporting all members with enquiries, problem solving and decision making.
Skills & Experience
8. Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent with English and Mathematics at Grade C or above.
9. Previous experience with a records/archive environment.
10. Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure.
11. Ability to plan and prioritise your own work load.
12. Good IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Products.
13. A full driving license and use of a vehicle.
