A leading international consulting and professional services firm is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join its in-house legal team. About the Role
* Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including client engagement letters, professional services contracts, supplier and vendor agreements, technology licenses, and confidentiality agreements.
* Partner with commercial and operational teams during the bid and contracting process to develop practical, business-focused solutions.
* Provide legal advice on regulatory and compliance matters impacting professional services, data protection, and cross-border engagements.
* Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidelines to promote consistency and efficiency.
* Support risk management and governance processes by identifying, assessing, and mitigating contractual and operational risks.
* Collaborate with Finance, Compliance, IT, and Procurement teams to ensure alignment with internal policies and client requirements.
* Advise senior stakeholders on commercial structuring, liability management, and client relationship issues.
* Deliver training and guidance to non-legal teams on contract management and best practices.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including legal operations, process automation, and contract lifecycle management.
Qualifications
* Qualified solicitor in the United Kingdom (or equivalent common law jurisdiction).
* 2–6 years of post-qualification experience gained in private practice, or a mix of private practice and in-house, ideally supporting professional services, consulting, or technology-driven businesses.
* Strong background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, including services, supplier, and technology agreements.
* Excellent academic credentials and training from a Magic Circle or Silver Circle law firm (or equivalent top-tier commercial practice) strongly preferred.
* Solid understanding of corporate, commercial, and data protection law.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a commercial, pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
* Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
* Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple priorities.
* Collaborative mindset with confidence to influence and advise stakeholders at all levels.
* Familiarity with contract management tools or process optimization is a plus.
