Post No. POSN001764 - Registration & Celebratory Services Officer 22.2 hours per week (Monday-Wednesday) We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional individual with excellent communication and public speaking skills to join our Registration and Celebratory Services team. Based at The Mansion House, 4 Stow Park Circle, Newport, this role places you at the heart of significant life events, supporting residents at some of the most important moments in their lives. About the Role As a Registration and Celebratory Services Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering statutory services with sensitivity, accuracy, and professionalism. This is a varied and rewarding role requiring resilience, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to public service. Your duties will include: - Registering life events (births, deaths, still-births, marriages, and civil partnerships) - Attesting notices of marriage/civil partnerships - Performing marriage, civil partnership, citizenship ceremonies and other non-statutory ceremonies (e.g. naming ceremonies and renewal of vows) at The Mansion House and other approved venues - Ensuring all legal and statutory requirements are met accurately and consistently The post includes weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis. About You You will be confident dealing with the public, including in emotionally sensitive situations, and able to manage a demanding workload while maintaining high standards of customer care. You should have: - Great customer service skills with excellent communication - The ability to understand, interpret, and apply complex legislation and guidance - Strong organisational skills and the ability to work accurately under pressure - Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy - Clear, legible handwriting - Good IT skills, including word processing, internet use, and database systems Previous experience within a registration service or a similar statutory, customer facing role is desirable. The ability to understand, speak, and write Welsh would be an advantage.
