JOB DESCRIPTION: Commercial Manager, Estimator, Commercial Lead, Estimating Manager, Technical Sales Estimator, Commercial Estimator - Packaging, Pallets, Packaging Solutions
As our Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for managing the estimation functions, focusing on creating accurate and cost-effective quotations, overseeing quality and compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This role will also include identifying new market opportunities, fostering collaboration within the team, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The Commercial Lead role combines strategic thinking with hands-on management to deliver optimal solutions and support company growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversee the design and estimation process, ensuring accurate cost estimates for all products manufactured and supplied by the company.
* Prepare professional and timely estimates and quotations, maintaining high standards of customer service and accuracy.
* Analyse production processes, lead times, and material costs to enhance estimation accuracy and cost effectiveness.
* Engage with customers to understand their requirements, provide consultative advice, and ensure solutions meet client expectations.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the design and estimation team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
* Set team goals, monitor performance, and implement development plans to support individual and team growth.
* Liaise with external suppliers to obtain accurate pricing for outsourced materials and components, ensuring cost-efficiency in project estimates.
* Continuously assess estimation and design processes, implementing enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
* Document all estimates, quotations, and relevant correspondence for auditing and record-keeping purposes.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
* Proven experience in estimating management, preferably within the packaging or manufacturing industry.
* Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO9000, and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and 5S.
* Experience with market research and business development, with the ability to identify and capitalise on new market opportunities.
* Excellent leadership and team development skills, with experience in mentoring and motivating teams.
* Proficiency in estimation software, design tools, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
