We are looking for a kind, reliable Personal Assistant to support a 40-year-old man with autism and a learning disability. He is a capable individual but would benefit from gentle encouragement and reminders to help organise his day and keep on top of day-to-day household tasks.
Your support will include accompanying him to appointments, helping with weekly shopping, and sharing meal preparation together, as he can cook basic meals but enjoys having support.
He is an engaging and sociable person with a real passion for sports, particularly football and motorsports, and would welcome someone who enjoys conversation and is willing to engage with him talking about things he enjoys.
The role involves light personal care, mainly offering prompts and reminders around personal hygiene, medication, and choosing suitable clothing for the weather and planned activities.
He leads an active social life and regularly attends local clubs and activities, including discos and the Men's Shed. You will help him keep track of his diary, plan his week, and continue to enjoy the activities that are important to him.
This role requires an enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
