We welcome enthusiastic and highly motivated optometrists with an interest in paediatrics to apply for a position in the Orthoptic department at Barnsley Hospital. The role is available to commence as soon as possible.
This essential role involves refraction, fundus, and media checks on a predominantly paediatric caseload. The successful candidate will work closely with Orthoptists and paediatric ophthalmologists.
The position is ideally Monday and Thursday, but these days may be negotiable.

Currently based at Barnsley Hospital, the location will move to HOTH, Alhambra in Barnsley town centre in late 2025.

Experience
* Experience in paediatric assessments, with or without cycloplegia
* Independent prescriber's certificate

Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) Optometry or equivalent
* Registered with the GOC
Knowledge and Awareness
* LogMAR acuity measurement
* Paediatric optometric assessment
* Awareness of health and safety, confidentiality, data protection, child protection, clinical governance, NHS/Trust policies, and basic orthoptic principles
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
