The opportunity We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join our collaborative HR team. The HRBP will act as a trusted advisor to designated business areas, supporting partners, and senior leaders with the delivery of strategic and operational HR initiatives. This is a hands-on role, requiring a strong understanding of both the legal services environment and best practice in people management. Be the first point of contact for their business areas for all generalist HR matters. As a trusted adviser, use their expert people knowledge and strategic awareness to give pragmatic, clear and commercially balanced HR advice and guidance in accordance with current legislation and best practice. Lead and deliver both strategic and operational HR projects. Help to nurture our supportive and employee centric wellbeing culture in order to retain and develop the firm's most talented people. Play a key role in the firm's salary review, promotion and bonus processes, making recommendations as appropriate. Support the firm's annual performance review and ongoing performance management processes for their business areas, driving up engagement where needed. Be the HR Lead for Engagement, as one area of our Responsible Business Strategy which encompasses Diversity & Inclusion, Wellbeing, Engagement and Sustainability. Requirements Essential Proven experience as an HR Business Partner within a Professional Services environment. Demonstrated success in a comparable role, including the implementation and embedding of a new HR Business Partnering model. Strong capability to constructively challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels, using a variety of influencing techniques to shape effective HR and business outcomes. Skilled in rapidly building trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation, with the confidence to engage in challenging conversations when required. Ability to present clear, well-structured arguments and utilise persuasive strategies to influence outcomes and drive behavioural change. Commercially aware with strong business acumen, capable of interpreting the firm’s operating environment and understanding the people implications. Proven ability to align HR strategies with broader organisational goals by understanding the wider business context, anticipating risks, and identifying future opportunities. Track record of proactively contributing to improved business performance through HR initiatives. Experience in leading and supporting employee engagement and wellbeing programmes. Results-driven, adaptable, and maintains a positive, proactive approach. Demonstrates ownership and accountability, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance HR processes and practices. Able to manage and deliver projects efficiently from inception to completion. Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on within a small, agile team. In-depth knowledge of current employment legislation and HR best practices. Desirable Experience working in a similar HR role within the legal sector. Background in supporting multiple offices is advantageous. CIPD qualification (or equivalent professional accreditation). Familiarity with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or relevant legal regulatory frameworks.
